About Big Ben's
Big Ben’s Boxing was established in 1996 by Ben Chua. He holds a Professional Boxing licence, and is an accredited coach with an international 1-Star rating with AIBA. Ben has coached in well over 350 bouts, including professional boxing bouts and amateur State and National Championships.
Prior to coaching, Ben trained in boxing and kickboxing, and had 15 fights in total. He boxed out of the well- known Max Bowman gym in Sunshine. Max Bowman’s boxing gym was possibly the most successful gym in Victoria in the 1970s, regularly supplying fighters to the 70’s hit show TV-Ringside. Max himself was a student of Hall of Fame trainer Ambrose Palmer, who trained greats such as former world champion Johnny Famechon.
Since 1996, many successful fighters have come out of Big Bens Boxing. This includes two professional State Champions, several State amateur champions, and two Australian amateur champions. But it is not only the fighters from Big Bens Boxing who have enjoyed success. There are countless stories of people who have changed their lives for the better having started boxing, whether it’s from weight loss, to improved self-esteem, or the courage to reject bullying.
Big Bens Boxing has 300 square metres of floor space, and is equipped with a boxing ring, 16 heavy bags, focus mitts, boxing gloves, and everything you need to reach your goals in boxing. It really is a “Professional Boxing Gym Where Everyone Can Learn to Box.”
